As we all know the Microsoft Games shut down Freelancer Global Server which is required to play via internet. To anyone who still doesn t know a new global server has been made from the Freelancer community side. Author of this server is crazy. It will run just like the old one. Simply download this and install: All mods must be deactivated. A fresh install of Freelancer is suggested. You can also check it yourself at official page: So Freelancers go back to multiplayer and enjoy. Copy links and paste into your web browser.

Thanks for the info about this new server. I hate M so much for closing the global server some time ago. Not like 120 a month to keep a server that make thousand of peoples happy was such a big investment, the greedy bastard. Since that and the closing of age of empire 2, I boycott all their games and the games that are using gfwl with the exception of fallout 3 that I bought without thinking it would include gfwl sigh
I installed it correctly and whatnot and was able to see various servers but I was unable to connect to any of them. said it usualy happens when they are dead so I don t know how active this is anymore Maybe it s just me though.

If theres a mod I would recommend for Freelancer, I ll highly suggest the Discovery Freelancer mod. www.discoverfl.com

yeah using vista Well there are problems with vista when it comes to connecting. Freelancer runs fine however. Read this in order to solve the problem: 254

Freelancer is a space action game. A futuristic sim. Its great when you play it with other players via multiplayer servers. You must buy it. There are a few available at amazon.com

The global server is down at the moment, becuase the host has some problems with it. It should be back in a couple of days.
After some problems with the new unofficial global server, it is now running smooth again.

Good to know, Freelancer was an awesome game and to this day i am still shocked Microsoft never continued the series. From the start the game had a fantastic online and mod community, half the people i still play games online with i met playing freelancer all those years ago.

Couse if this topic I browsed through all my things to find the Freelancer discs from the old times. Anyone know any good HD mods or something since the game is pretty old and I doubt I ll be able to run it normally on a 24 monitor :
I believe you mean if you can run the game with widescreen support. Yes you can if you install a patch again fan made, which allows you to run freelancer using your desktop resolution.
The patch I m talking about is Jason s Freelancer patch, the latest is 1.20 and you can download the. dll file from here: jflpdll
You have to manually install this patch by yourself. My instructions are to copy the jflp.dll to C: Program Files Microsoft Games Freelancer EXE and then in EXE folder find file called dacom.ini. Open that file in notepad and under the section Libraries add jflp.dllnofovx nostats no4way no8way under all other. dlls listed there, without the quotes. Save the file, then start Freelancer and in game under options, set the resolution to match your desktop res.
I realise there should be an installer for this patch, but the creator of this patch released the latest version in a hurry. If you need any help installing it, just message me.
Now on to the HD mods you want. Actually there is one but you need to be familiar with the Freelancer mod manager, so I won t explain this here. You can download the mod here:

The Discovery mod is incredibly boring.
Browse Freelancer Global Server Hotfix GUI mod for Freelancer files to download full releases, installer, sdk, patches, mods, demos, and media.
This is a workaround that lists a lot of the remaining FLServers since Microsoft has shut down the global list server. After installation, you should see Freelancer servers on the LAN or INTERNET multiplayer listings again.
This is meant as a temporary solution to the downtime of the Global Server.

This mod downloads serverips from the server statistics site on every Freelancer start.
To get a fresh server list, you need to restart Freelancer.
